Breaking Free from Excuses: Unleash Your Potential

The Big Problem

Breaking Free from Excuses. Fear can be things such as money, commitments, or taking a risk into the unknown path. Todays addiction is excuses and blame. When was the last time you told yourself you were going to do something but then talked yourself out of it? Our excuses are just limitations we have constructed on ourself.

She was in charge of her own life, it was up to her to take action. You create your own thoughts. Those thoughts matched her words and these became her stories. Her stories matched her actions and behaviour creating her character. She walked away from excuses and took responsibility. The Million Dollar Handshake by Catherine Molloy.

What stories have you been telling your self? We blame lack of skills, experience or the status quo. When we should be blaming ourselves for not making a start often from a fear of the unknown path. The unknown path is the hardest to take but it can lead to opportunities we didn’t know were waiting for us. People always say I’m goanna start that website or online business and then 5 years later they haven’t done anything.

Why must we face fear?

Over coming fear helps you create the life that is more aligned with your values.

You can start moving towards your goals TODAY. Starting today will allow you to improve. The mindset shift that helped me start 2 months ago was that I have the savings, as a hobby baker I have had the idea to start an online business for the last 2 years. I am not quite sure how to get there but I can give it ago for 6 months and the best case scenario is that I create a small community on social platforms and build a digital cake course and it allows me to create a full time job from cake decorating.

Worst case scenario is that I learn a lot of skills including digital marketing and I will have a recipe and food photography portfolio. That I could use to leverage myself in something related to food.

Stop Blaming Excuses

We blame lack of skills, experience or the status quo. When we should be blaming ourselves for not making a start often from a fear to improvise. The hardest tasks to complete and the most difficult decisions we make are the ones we do without a script, when we have to make it up as we go and trust our gut that is when fear comes in.

People always say I’m goanna and then 5 years later they haven’t done anything. You must be a completer. you have to do it. Think when the last time you thought of a career change or to pursue a significant idea did you do it? You have the power to overcome those excuses. It all starts with a mindset shift. Instead of dwelling on what you can’t do, focus on what you can do.

Compliers vs Completers

You must be a completer. You have to do it. Think when the last time you thought of a career change or to pursue a significant idea did you do it? Maybe you told your idea to someone and they said it was a bad, I will start that online business next year and then next year comes and then nothing. That was me for the last 3 years, I registered the name for the business, hired a graphic designer to make the logo and then posted my cakes and entered coemptions but never made it into a business. Do you want another year of nothing or do you want to face the fear of that unknown path and become a completer.

There is two types of people compliers and completers. You must be a completer. You have to do it.

Put Yourself in the Path of Opportunities

An example of a creative that started a blog and created her own opportunities is DIY Daisy. Her blog created as a platform to post her free sewing patterns has allowed her opportunities to create content in collaboration with brands like Brother, Cricut, Nikon, The Fabric Store, Salvos Stores. Also having a book deal in 2022 Sew it Yourself book. Daisy is an inspiration that shows by putting yourself out there you can get you noticed.

I was at the book signing for her book release. I listened to her talk about getting the book deal through her blog and Instagram account. It is was the first time I really started to consider starting a website. It really opened my eyes to the opportunities that come from writing online. Breaking Free from Excuses can make your dreams happen.

If you don’t have experience or know what path to take just do multiple different things as it can put you in the right environment to grab opportunities as they come up.

I have created my blog to give valuable tips to hobby bakers in a decorating. In turn I hope that I can build an email list and show people my skills as a baker and recipe developer. I have also been learning video editing, marketing myself and funding my journey through my savings.

I know that doing these things now will allow me to have opportunities in the future that I wouldn’t have had if had just kept working my 6-3 job. Breaking free from excuses has allowed me to get closer to my goals.

Overcoming Fear

What stories have you been telling your self. had been putting off starting an online business for the last two years. I read books, listen to YouTube videos brought the camera but never put any work in to start. I would always come home from work, go to gym, make dinner and go to sleep. wake up at 4.30am and do it all again. When I did have time I would try and film a recipe but see the bad lighting in the video and do nothing with the footage. For me I had been telling my self that no one is going to read your food blog, no one is going to watch your YouTube videos.

2 months ago I was let go from my job after completing my 3 year course. I had been saving to take 6 months off encase this happened at the end of my certificate. In 2 months I have learnt how to edit on a free software, created a website with WordPress, created my own recipes and videos finally showing people my baking skills.
