White Christmas Slice is definitely a Christmas staple in my family. As a kid I was always in charge of making the white Christmas slice. It was one of the first recipes I could make without my parents help in the kitchen.
FAQ
Why use condensed milk and coconut oil?
There are many variations on white Christmas slice. The traditional slice uses milk powder and copha. Then there is modern recipes that use just chocolate which I would classify as rocky road territory. That is why for this recipe I have chosen condensed milk, white chocolate and coconut oil. The condensed milk gives it that traditional taste, the white chocolate gives it a firm structure and the coconut oil allows for a softer bit.
Can I use different ingredients?
Yes, any chocolate like dark, milk or even caramilk chocolate will all work fine with this recipe. You can also change the dried cherries or pistachios to other nuts or dried fruit.
Can I use more kid friendly ingredients?
As a kid friendly option instead of dried fruit and nuts you can use raspberry lollies cut up or even lolly snakes.
Can I leave out the coconut?
Yes if you have an allergy than replace the coconut oil with copha. You can leave out the desiccated coconut all together it want effect then end result of the recipe.
How many serves will this recipe make?
I noticed with a lot of similar recipes that they make large potions. I wanted to make a recipe smaller with potions 8 squares or 16 small rectangles.
What do I do with my left over condensed milk?
You can use the other half of the tin on my Bailey’s Caramel Fudge recipe or you can create these 2 ingredient truffles https://www.taste.com.au/recipes/2-ingredient-condensed-milk-truffles-recipe/hijc2h09
